Update 2 changes & info


Demons Within update 2 is here!

Whew! It was a long... well over a month of hardcore development, but here we are!

I've mentioned it before in a few places, but I personally consider this update the 'second part' of the introduction to the game. It introduces a bunch of major things that will be very relevant to the story moving forward and showcases other important things about the world! Resnick has so much more to discover...

In the end, this update ended up being even bigger than the launch update! It's longer and, while the launch update set up a base, this one really builds up on its foundations! Moving forward, things should calm down a little. I'd like to make future updates shorter and faster, but each update will be its own thing and, ultimately, I'll do whatever I feel is best for both the pacing of the story and to be enough to be an entertaining update.

I hope you like what you see here! I have so many plans moving forward... so many plans!

Update 2 Changelog

  • Over 20k words of new content moving the story forward
  • New Android version of the game!
    • Future versions of Demons Within will be launched with Android support from now on

  • Reorganized interface to better support both the Android and PC/Mac versions

  • New character sprites and new expressions and assets added to some existing sprites

  • Fixed a few small bugs of text overflowing from the screen in the previous build's chapter

  • Added a content warning notification at the beginning of the game

  • Improved auto-skip so it stops automatically when the Essence Wheel shows up

Future updates

There's so, so much more that I plan on introducing to the game. This time I don't mean only in terms of story, characters and cool stuff. Here are some of the goals I have of things I aim to slowly improve as the story advances in future updates:

  • A 'memory' gallery that allows the player to:
    • Review any memories they have 'unlocked' through the game from the menus
    • Re-watch scenes, especially spicy ones, recalling them from Resnick's memories once they've been seen and unlocked so that the player doesn't have to reach that part of the game to see and read through it again.
    • Access bonus content and unlockables

  • Further improve the game's interface with more visualization and information that is relevant, especially involving the Essence Wheel

  • Implement an autosave feature that saves automatically at key points of the game so the player has easy return points even if not manually saving

  • Improve the bad ending screen, results and further build upon them

  • Improve other interface elements that are either not very practical or not looking very good in either version of the game

  • And so much more!

Some of these should make it to the game sooner than others, but I always have new ideas and I'll keep working hard to make things as awesome as they can be!

Again, thank you so much for everyone's support in this big endeavor! It's only the beginning, but it's already been a wild ride!
